Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was the first female physician in Italy. During her clinical work she had the opportunity to observe children and their true nature.
She was so fascinated by what she saw that she shifted her focus from medicine and went back to school to study psychology and anthropology.
The discoveries that she made almost a hundred years ago still hold true and are being reconfirmed by scientists studying the human brain and stages of development from birth to adulthood.
